ontrack – empowering independence.
For most people, getting from A to B is simple. For blind and visually impaired individuals, every journey often means extra planning, uncertainty, or costly assistance. ontrack is the first fully audio-based navigation app that guides users safely and independently through cities – on foot and by public transport.
It talks to you, tells you where you are, and gives clear audio cues for your next step – barrier-free, intuitive, and co-created with the community.

Two people are smiling and talking outside, one wearing a hat and glasses, the other in a purple shirt. A third person in the foreground, holding a smartphone, is partially visible.

Our Vision

We believe in a world where everyone can move freely and safely – regardless of their visual ability.
With ontrack, we want to break down barriers in urban spaces and give blind and visually impaired people the independence to explore and navigate their cities with confidence.

What we are doing.

With ontrack, we are developing the first fully audio-based navigation app that empowers blind and visually impaired people to move independently in cities. Our app combines real-time public transport data and pedestrian navigation, guiding users step by step with clear audio cues. Together with the community, we create a barrier-free solution that makes everyday mobility safe, intuitive, and inclusive.

Core Functionalities

Audio-first navigation

ontrack does not rely on visual maps. Instead, it uses spoken instructions and acoustic signals designed for blind and visually impaired people. This makes navigation intuitive, reliable, and independent of sight.

Public transport integration

Unlike most apps, ontrack combines pedestrian routes with real-time data from buses, trams, and trains. Users can plan and follow complete journeys across the city without switching between different tools.

Safe Route Mode

Safety is at the heart of ontrack. The app prioritizes routes that are more accessible, for example with tactile paving, audible traffic lights, and fewer obstacles. This reduces stress and increases confidence when moving through the city.

Back to Route

If a user takes a wrong turn or leaves the suggested path, the app automatically helps them return to the route in the quickest and safest way possible. This prevents confusion and supports independence.

“Where am I?” function

With a simple tap, users receive clear information about their current position, nearby streets, or landmarks. This feature is especially helpful for orientation in new or complex environments.
